This is a PCB set for building your own Ambassador preamp. This is not a beginner project, so if you’ve never built a pedal before, then this isn’t for you.
I’ve tried to make this as affordable and as easy to assemble as possible, but this is a high-voltage circuit and requires special care in assembly, testing, and use. Conspiracy to Commit Electronics is not responsible for any damage or injury caused by improper handling, assembly, or use of this circuit.
The Ambassador is based on the Matchless Hotbox, which is a two-channel tube preamp/overdrive. The clean channel can work great as a warm clean boost, and the overdrive channel can go anywhere from a mild crunch to a creamy overdrive. Ambassador can be used either as an overdrive running into the front of your amp, or as a standalone preamp into a power amp, FOH, or interface.
Each PCB also includes a “3PDT-BO” footswitch PCB and “12AX7-LEFT” and “12AX7-RIGHT” PCBs for mounting the tube sockets. A pre-drilled enclosure is available for an additional cost.
