Black Eye PCB Set

This is a PCB set for building your own Black Eye preamp. This is not a beginner project, so if you’ve never built a pedal before, then this isn’t for you.

I’ve tried to make this as affordable and as easy to assemble as possible, but this is a high-voltage circuit and requires special care in assembly, testing, and use. Black Eye is based on a now-rare boutique high-gain tube distortion, which is my personal favorite pedal in the world. It can deliver everything from light tube crunch to full on face melting distortion. The circuit was designed for use on guitar, but there’s also a very simple mod that can be done to turn it into an excellent bass distortion.

Each PCB also includes a “3PDT-TB” footswitch PCB and “12AX7-LEFT” and “12AX7-RIGHT” PCBs for mounting the tube socket. A pre-drilled enclosure can be purchased from Tayda Electronics, instructions here.
