Lab Rat Distortion – Finished Pedal

Lab Rat Distortion is a refined take on one of the most iconic distortion circuits ever created. Built around the classic RAT-style topology, it delivers everything from gritty overdrive to aggressive, saturated distortion with the unmistakable punch and bite that made the original famous. Tight low end, cutting mids, and a smooth but powerful top end make it equally at home pushing an amp or standing on its own as a primary gain source.

The original output buffer has been replaced with a 12AX7 tube stage running at full high voltage, giving an unmatched warmth and punch. The original “filter” control has also been removed in favor of a more flexible Baxandall EQ giving bass and treble controls so you can dial in whatever you need on either guitar or bass.

As a tube pedal, Lab Rat requires a high amount of current to operate correctly. I recommend a 9-12VDC power supply capable of delivering at least 500mA, and all Lab Rat units will ship with a 9V 1000mA power supply (100-240VAC 50-60Hz input, international operation). Using a supply providing less than 500mA can potentially damage the power supply in use and/or the pedal.
